LEGAU (IPR): The Organic One World Award festival which began yesterday in Legau, Germany continued today with festive programs including seminar lecture, interactive session and music by local artistes. Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling was invited for the interactive session attended by all delegates, guests, fellow OWA winners and media persons.
While interacting with the audience, the Chief Minister stressed on the need for organic farming as the only solution to save the world from global warming and environmental degradation. He informed that he was not an agriculture scientist nor an agriculturist but a politician working tirelessly for this organic movement as it maintains a balance in the living of human being with animals and insects in harmony. This is the most non-violent form of the farming system, he said adding that Sikkim has become an Organic State not by default but by design.
Informing the audience about Sikkim’s geography, the Chief Minister informed that Sikkim - though surrounded by three international borders with China, Nepal and Bhutan - is the most peaceful, progressive, clean and green State of India. He called upon the gathering to continue to promote the organic movement for ensuring harmonious and peaceful living in all beings with nature.
Earlier on the day, the Chief Minister also attended a lecture being delivered by Dr. Vandana Shiva on the theme ‘100 percent organic is possible’ where she praised Sikkim as an example and a model.
