SDL agrees to raise salaries of its workers |

GANGTOK, September 3: The pay hike demand of the
labourers at Sikkim Distilleries Limited (SDL)
at Rangpo was resolved today with the management
agreeing to enhance the monthly salary by Rs.
900.
“The pay hike demand was amicably settled today.
The SDL management has agreed to raise the
monthly salaries of the workers by Rs. 900. We
thank the SDL management for working in the
interests of the workers and we expect similar
cooperation in future. We also congratulate the
workers for their achievement”, said All Sikkim
Democratic Labour Front (ASDLF) general
secretary Hari Chettri.
Chettri said that with the enhancement of the
monthly salaries, the SDL has given due respect
to the State government’s directives for minimum
daily wages of Rs. 130.
The SDL workers had been demanding for a raise
as per the notification of the State government.
They were getting a minimum daily wage of Rs.
100 and were demanding Rs. 130 as minimum daily
wage as per the State government’s notification.
The issue was pending for some time and today,
the management called the workers and agreed to
raise their salaries, said the ASDLF general
secretary. |
