Steering committee for development projects |

GANGTOK, July 19: A State level steering
committee headed by the Chief Minister has been
formed by the State government to establish
synergy and to oversee the implementation of
development projects sanctioned by the Ministry
of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation.
State tourism minister is the vice-chairman of
the steering committee with the tourism
secretary as the member secretary. The other
members are Development Commissioner,
departmental heads of urban development,
transport and roads & bridges and one
representative each from TAAS, SAATO and SHRA.
A destination level monitoring committee for
East Sikkim has also been constituted for the
same purpose with the DC (East) as the chairman.
The other members are district development
officer, GMC chief municipal officer and
representatives from other line agencies and
associations.
The two committees has been tasked to meet at
least once every six months to ensure
convergence, provide guidance and monitor the
implementation of projects for development of
the destinations. The committees will also be
suggesting ways to keep the tourist destinations
of world class standard to enhance the
experience of the tourists. |
