GANGTOK: Fourteen new Covid-19 positive cases were reported on Wednesday taking the State’s active cases tally to 395.
In his Thursday health bulletin, Health director general-cum-secretary informed that one positive case was reported from Majhigaon, Jorethang as per the tests conducted on Wednesday.
The south district administration has declared the East Majhigaon ward as a containment zone. The Jorethang CHC was also put under containment zone and prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC were imposed in Jorethang town.
Dr. Pempa informed that 10 cases were from east district.
Among them, three were from the Group D post office quarters above TNA, outside Raj Bhawan complex. A lady working in the post office in that area had previously tested Covid-19 positive and admitted at STNM hospital. She was discharged yesterday and testing of her family members resulted in three positive cases. They were her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law.
The remaining seven cases from east district were from Rangpo-Mamring-Majitar belt.
Similarly, three persons working in Alkem pharma factory and staying in Rangpo IBM area have tested Covid-19 positive.
Sixteen patients were discharged yesterday after being cured from Covid-19. So far, 214 persons have overcome coronavirus and discharged from hospitals in Sikkim.
Meanwhile, east district authorities today informed that 24 new positive cases are reported from IBM colony and Majhigaon near Rangpo. Samples totalling to 98 had been collected from the primary contacts at the containment zones. The positive cases have been shifted to Covid care centre, the east district administration said.
