179 Covid cases, five deaths

GANGTOK,: Sikkim recorded 179 Covid cases from the 1487 samples tested on Thursday. The State’s Covid positivity rate was 12%, said the Health department.
The district-wise Covid load was 65 cases in east district, 34 cases in west district, 79 cases in south district and one case in north district.
Five more Covid deaths were also reported – three at STNM Hospital and two at CRH Manipal. The deceased persons were an 84-year-old male from Jorethang, a 90-year-old male from Sumbuk, a 65-year-old female from Darap, a 76-year-old male from Development Area and a 78-year-old male from Kadamtam.
So far, around 204 persons in Sikkim have been claimed by the Covid second wave. The Covid death toll since last year is 342, said the Health department.
With 169 recoveries, the State’s total active Covid tally is 3302, said the Health department.
At present, there are 107 Covid patients admitted in hospitals here. Among them, 10 are in the ICU, said the Health department.
