276 Covid cases, four deaths

GANGTOK,: Sikkim registered 276 cases from the 1715 samples tested on Wednesday. The State’s Covid positivity rate was 16%, said the Health department.
The district-wise Covid load was 78 cases in east district, 100 cases in west district, 97 cases in south district and one case in north district.
It is for the fifth straight day that West Sikkim has reported 100 and above Covid infections daily.
Four more Covid deaths were reported from STNM Hospital. The deceased were a 42-year-old male from Namchi, an 84-year-old female from West Sikkim, a 29-year-old female from Cham Gaon, South Sikkim, and a one-month-old baby from Mamring, Pakyong.
So far, around 199 persons in Sikkim have succumbed to the Covid second wave. The total Covid death toll since last year has reached 337, said the Health department.
With 90 recoveries, the State’s active Covid tally is 3297, said the Health department.
At present, there are 113 Covid patients admitted in hospitals here. Among them, 13 are in the ICU, said the Health department.
