GANGTOK,: NHPC Ltd, Teesta-V power station, Balutar, East Sikkim celebrated 72nd Republic Day with patriotic fervour and zeal on Tuesday at its complex.
The function was attended by all the employees of Teesta-V power station, IRBn, Home Guards, teachers of KV, NHPC and local people with observing Covid-19 guidelines.
A press release informs that Sahadev Khatua, GM(I/c), Teesta-V Power Station & Teesta-IV Hydro Electric Project unfurled the tricolor flag.
Speaking on the occasion, he remembered the sacrifices and contributions of freedom fighters and paid tribute to the founding fathers of Republic of India. He said that 2020 year has been tumultuous worldwide, but we have overcome it with great sense of unity and maintained the power station’s residents are less vulnerable to Covid-19. Further, he highlighted the power station’s role in sustainable development of surrounding areas.
Khatua also briefed on Corporate Social Responsibility activities being executed by the Teesta-V power station to create viable infrastructural and welfare facilities in project vicinity area. This has contributed a lot in the socio-economic upliftment in the region. He also thanked local people of Sikkim for extending all kinds of help to power station every time especially in the event of crisis.
To rekindle the spirit of nationalism and instill a sense of pride among employees, Khatua inaugurated a gigantic tricolor on a 30 m mast in the power station premises at Balutar. The celebrations included cultural programmes and prize distribution to the performers, the release mentions.
