SILIGURI,: Gorkha Janamukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung today launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a public meeting at Dulaljote under Khoribari block along Indo-Nepal border, Gurung said, "The man who is ruling the entire nation might have forgotten the sacrifices of the Gorkhas".
Gurung slammed BJP government and its leaders including Modi and Union Home minister Amit Shah for “fooling and betraying” Gorkhas. “They have only used us for the election purposes. They never understood the grievances of Gorkha community who have helped them win by electing two MPs from Darjeeling and Alipurduar,” Gurung said.
He added that several political parties including Shiv Sena have now started breaking alliance with BJP because of its “anti-people” policies.
Gurung along with party's general secretary Roshan Giri on Monday visited Panitanki and Naxalbari areas where they interacted with people and narrated their stories on how they spent three years in New Delhi.
The duo also paid tribute to martyred Gorkha soldier Suresh Chhetri by offering garlands and Khadas on the statue at Tarabari village in Naxalbari.
