CRH, Health Dept sign MoU for Su-Swastha Yojana

GANGTOK,: The State Health department on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Central Referral Hospital Manipal here in a major step towards the implementation of the ambitious Su-Swastha Yojana, which is set to benefit over 1.2 lakh government employees in the State with a cashless health cover of up to Rs. 20 lakh.
“We are happy to sign a tripartite agreement of Su-Swastha Yojana with Swadhi health and State government. We would like to thank the State government for partnering with us and giving us the opportunity to serve the people of Sikkim, especially the ones who need critical care,” said CRH medical superintendent Dr. Yogesh Verma.
Under the scheme, regular government employees and their five dependents each will get cashless health service. New born babies and dental care is also included in this scheme which are new and equally important services, said Dr. Verma.
The insured persons can also avail private and semi-private rooms at hospitals during the time of treatment. In-case if the rooms aren’t available then 30% discount will be applicable in general ward, added Dr. Verma.
Swadhi Health founder Dr. Gaurav Kumar said the scheme will extend specialty and super-specialty care to the employees of Sikkim and their family members.  
“This scheme covers 1,20,000 regular government employees and five dependents. They are covered in a health care insurance of Rs. 20 lakh where Rs. 10 lakh is reserved for general multi-speciality health care and Rs. 10 lakh for critical care cover. The employees need to contribute Rs. 200 per month which is the minimum insurance contribution in the country”, informed Dr. Kumar.
Also on the day, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Science dean Dr. Muralidhar V. Pai inaugurated a 10-bedded OBG unit for quality care of mothers and art facility for post-operative treatment.
Likewise, a six-bedded emergency ICU was inaugurated.
