Low-key Tourism Day celebration in Siliguri

SILIGURI,: The Association for Conservation of Tourism (ACT) has decided to observe World Tourism Day in Siliguri in a low-key manner owing to the Covid pandemic.
The Tourism Day will be celebrated across three venues for three days – Mainak Hotel and Modela School in Church More and Siliguri Town Station.
In a press conference held at Siliguri Journalist Club, ACT convenor Raj Basu said, “Since there is a chance of overcrowding at City Centre as people may gather also for puja shopping, we have decided to change the venue.”
He said a homestay congress between the homestay owners of North Bengal, Sikkim, Nepal and Bhutan will be held on September 25 at Mainak Hotel and on September 26, the Tourism day will be observed in a small manner at Sunday Haat, in Modela School premises in Church Road.
The closing ceremony will be held on September 27 at Siliguri Town Station.
Basu also informed that former Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia and former minister Gautam Deb will attend the programme as guests.
