Siliguri couple distributes saris to tea garden workers


NAXALBARI, July 31: A couple from Siliguri distributed one hundred saris among tea garden workers today in memory of their beloved ones who died of Covid-19.Tirthakari Som and her husband Suvankar Nandi, residents of Deshbandu Para in Siliguri, with the support of the members of Unique Foundation, handed over the saris to female tea garden workers of Naxalbari tea estate and Singhiajhora tea estate.

"My mother-in-law recently died of coronavirus and my mother also passed away of prolonged illness and to remember them, I along with my husband decided to do some noble work so that their soul can rest in peace. We then decided to distribute saris among tea garden workers with the help of Unique Foundation team,” said Tirthakari.

Sunita Oraon, a student and a social worker from Naxalbari tea estate, thanked the couple for the commendable work to remember their loved ones who passed away.
