SKM coordination meeting for Arithang constituency

Despite pandemic, SKM Govt delivered a lot to the people: Upreti
GANGTOK, : The SKM coordination meeting for Arithang constituency was held here on Friday with Roads & Bridges minister Samdup Lepcha as the chief guest.
Also present was area MLA-cum-Urban Development minister Arun Upreti, SKM youth wing president Lakpa Moktan, media cell chief coordinator Bikash Basnet, CLC president Karma Tempo Rapgyal, party functionaries and workers.
In his address, the Roads & Bridges minister welcomed all the new members who joined the SKM at the programme today. He said SKM believes in inclusive politics and inclusive development as per the vision of party president and Chief Minister P.S. Golay.
Lepcha mentioned that extensive development is taking place in rural Sikkim and highlighted the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY), the flagship housing scheme of the SKM government. Another major programme is being implemented which is ‘One family, one entrepreneur’ for the youth and we are confident of great results in years to come, he said.
“In 2014, the SKM had a programme ‘one family, one job’ which was copied by the then ruling party and implemented. However, the scheme was launched by the then government without any provisions or funds to pay the employees. It is the SKM government that is taking care of these employees with honesty and ensuring they get salaries on time,” said Lepcha.
Addressing the gathering, area MLA-cum-Urban Development minister Arun Upreti welcomed all those who joined the SKM at the programme today. We must all join hands to serve the society and the needy and work for the holistic development of Arithang constituency and the State, he said. He also urged the new members to stay disciplined, respect the party flag and work as directed by the party’s leader.
“Our party and its leader are sincerely working to deliver the promises made to the people. We believe in talking less as at the end of the day, it is the work accomplished that speaks more,” said Upreti.
Upreti mentioned that despite the pandemic of two years, a lot of work and development has been accomplished by the SKM government. He added that health, education and agriculture sectors are fostering today under the SKM government.
Regarding his constituency, Upreti said the development and works done at Arithang are just a preview of greater things in store for the constituency and its people. There are many more things to be undertaken with the support of the people and government, he said. He urged all party workers to work collectively to make Arithang as the best constituency in Sikkim.
Upreti recalled that Arithang had elected the SKM candidate in 2014 and also chose him in the 2019 election. The trust and support from the people in these two elections is the evidence that Arithang is a strong base of SKM party and we are indebted to the people of Arithang for their support, he said.
The coordination meeting was also addressed by CLC president Karma Tempo Raggyal, chairperson Chung Chung Bhutia, party functionaries and two newly joined members.
Three individuals of the constituency were also felicitated by the organising committee for their social work.
At the programme, around 356 persons joined the SKM party today leaving other political parties.
