Nowadays, Stress has become the part of our daily life or a common problem in modern life. Stress is a basic thing of everyday life and there is no way to escape.  Psychologists describe stress as tension experienced on individual over a period of time which spoils the aptitude of the singular to accomplish his part. Stress able to create bodily or mentor indications and stress can be engendered by pressure also problem in work environment and individual lifestyle. Stress could be of caused by pressure and problem at work location and individual lifestyle.
Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. Stress is your body's reaction to a challenge or demand. In short bursts, stress can be positive, such as when it helps you avoid danger or meet a deadline. But when stress lasts for a long time, it may harm your health.
WHAT IS STRESS?
According to Selye (1956) tress is the "non-specific response of the body to any kind of demand made upon it. Most often, stress is associated with negative situations, but good things also produce stress. Stress from positive experiences, such as becoming newly married, promoted at work, etc.is called eustress.
WHAT IS STRESSOR?
A stressor is any person or situation that produces anxiety responses.
TYPE OF STRESSOR
Environmental stressors-Noise, pollution, traffic, crowding and weather.
Physiological stressors- illness, injuries, hormonal fluctuations, inadequate sleep or nutrition. ??Social stressors- Financial problems, work demands, social events, losing a loved one, etc.
Thoughts- Negative self-talk, catastrophizing and perfectionism.
Stress is a normal feeling. There are two main types of stress:
Acute stress. This is short-term stress that goes away quickly. You feel it when you slam on the brakes, have a fight with your partner, or ski down a steep slope. It helps you manage dangerous situations. It also occurs when you do something new or exciting. All people have acute stress at one time or another.
Chronic stress. This is stress that lasts for a longer period of time. You may have chronic stress if you have money problems, an unhappy marriage, or trouble at work. Any type of stress that goes on for weeks or months is chronic stress. You can become so used to chronic stress that you don't realize it is a problem. If you don't find ways to manage stress, it may lead to health problems.
How can stress affect your body?
Your body reacts to stress by releasing hormones. These hormones make your brain more alert, cause your muscles to tense, and increase your pulse. In the short term, these reactions are good because they can help you handle the situation causing stress. This is your body's way of protecting itself.
When you have chronic stress, your body stays alert, even though there is no danger. Over time, this puts you at risk for health problems, including:
• High blood pressure
• Heart disease
• Diabetes
• Obesity
• Depression or anxiety
• Skin problems, such as acne or eczema
• Menstrual problems
• If you already have a health condition, chronic stress can make it worse.
SIGNS OF TOO MUCH STRESS
Stress can cause many types of physical and emotional symptoms. Sometimes, you may not realize these symptoms are caused by stress. Here are some signs that stress may be affecting you:
• Diarrhoea or constipation
• Forgetfulness
• Frequent aches and pains
• Headaches
• Lack of energy or focus
• Sexual problems
• Stiff jaw or neck
• Tiredness
• Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
• Upset stomach
• Use of alcohol or drugs to relax
• Weight loss or gain
MANAGEMENT OF STRESS
• Get Enough Sleep
• Yoga and meditation
• Practice Visualization
• Exercise Regularly
• Take Calming Breaths
• Practice Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR)
• Listen to Music, dance, read books and cook
• Get Organized, follow daily routines
• Eat a Healthy Diet
• Try Self-Hypnosis
• Use Positive Thinking and Affirmations.
Follow the simple 4A's to manage stress: Avoid, Alter, Adopt and Accept.
• Avoid stress by taking control where you can.
• Alter stress by changing the situation, either step back or take action.
• Adopt stress by changing your expectations and stop striving for perfection
• Accept that there are events that you cannot control and accept the situation.
Positive use of stress
The effect of pressure is not continuously bad. Pressure actually improves productivity and it can be helpful in developing create ideas. All people need to be able to recognize the sign of stress themselves and other. Stress far from hastening a successful manager to an early demise actually helps prolong his life. Being exposed to repeated stress at intermittent intervals has shown to stimulate the adrenal glands, keep body’s Défense mechanisms working at peak efficiency. Positive use of stress for individual is Stress can be motivator. Stress can motivate people to work on it and complete. Stress also can help people to put in our very best effort. Sometimes without stress, people live would be so boring. Stress will help us to get thing done. Without stress everyone would live dull and boring lives. Stress may force people to learn something new and to the thing best of the best. Stress may become people life alert. Stress keeps us on our toes. It keeps our alert and ready at all times. Alertness is important whatever in the workplace, at home and in life itself. We need to be alert to know what happens around you. Positive use of stress for organization may increase productivity. Stress actually improves organization productivity and it can be helpful in developing create ideas. Stress may help organization to making good decision and strategy. Meanwhile, stress also can help organization to gain more market share and increasing profit.
Dealing with stress
Everyone has responsibility to take appropriate measures. People must know how to dealing with stress. People need to learn to keep a balance with our body and our mind. Meanwhile, people must learn ways of modify behaviour when faced with pressure. Here are a few ways that persons may deal with stress. One of the most actual mean of commerce with stress is bodily application. According to researcher stress results in chemical changes in the body and physical exercise can returning the body to its normal state. Physical exercise includes jogging; walking, swimming, golf and etc. Follow good diet habits also effective to dealing with stress. An individual below stress is burning up energy at a faster pace than normal. The proper eating habits are extremely important.
In conclusion, stress has an advantages and disadvantages. If people will handle stress effectively this can provide a lot of advantages to people. But if people will not handle stress effectively this may lead a lot problem to people. Stress is a common problem in modern life. Stress is a normal quantity of everyday life and there is no way to escape. So, people need to learn how too effectively to managing the stress. At an organization level, consideration to simple job project ideologies able to improves the situations that could be the reason of stress. At the different level, human resource professional has showed workspaces on managing the pressure to relief the employees to cope with stress and evade an overexposure to the circumstance that can increase the strain.
There’s saying that ‘’Breath is the power behind all things’’ so just breath more powerfully and let stress not weak you. So stay calm and be kind to yourself and be kind to your mind.
