PAKYONG, September 2: The students of
Pakim Palatine College today staged
colourful cultural programmes, marking
the 6th foundation day of the institute
here today.
Students who performed well in their
exams were awarded on the occasion.
Advisor STCS Nima Thing, who was present
as the chief guest handed over the
excellent award in BSc to Rahul Rai,
while Tankanath Dhital was given
excellent award in BA. Similarly, Sonam
Laden was given excellent award in BBA,
followed by L. Basanta Singh in BCA and
as well as Pride of Palatine College
2010. The award comprised of certificate
and a souvenir.
The Chairman of the College Rup Raj Ra
informed that Palatine College complex
will come up in Rai Gaon, above JNV
School where they will have lecture
hall, teachers’ quarters, auditorium,
play grounds and laboratory facilities
for which a detailed project report, he
added has been completed. He also
congratulated all the students who have
passed out their third year Exam under
North Bengal University.
The chief guest in his address asked the
students from Bhutan and other north
eastern studying to tell their friends
about the peaceful environment of Sikkim.
“We are in the age of education,
knowledge and competition and so
students should be educated but not with
the sole purpose of getting jobs,” he
said adding that education should
rekindle moral attitude towards changing
the society into a friendly and peaceful
place. Mr. Thing also congratulated and
expressed best wishes to the founder of
the Palatine College on its 6th
Foundation Day.
Also present on the occasion were former
Zilla Panchayat president (East) PN Kazi,
Principal Dikling Senior Secondary,
Principal Palatine College, lecturers,
local gentries and students of the
