Topakhani slide victims received monetary relief

GANGTOK, September 1: Monetary relief under natural calamities fund was distributed to more than 50 families affected by August 26 slides at Topakhani area by the East district collectorate yesterday.
Area MLA Am Prasad Sharma handed over the monetary relief at Topakhani to the affected families.
DC (East) D Anandan, SDM (East) AB Karki, panchayat members and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The relief amount ranged from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 35,000 depending on the degree of damages to properties of the affected families.
Authorities informed that survey is continuing to asses the damages at Chisopani, Sirwani, Dochum, Raley, Singbel and Khamdong. Relief will be distributed to the affected families in these areas after assessment, they said.
