GANGTOK,: Prof. Avinash Khare has completed his term as the Vice Chancellor of
Sikkim University. He had joined the Sikkim University as its third Vice
Chancellor on October 11, 2018.

release informs that Prof. Khare demitted office on July 31 and handed over the
charge of Vice- Chancellor, Sikkim University (officiating) to senior Professor
Jyoti Prakash Tamang.
A farewell
program was organised for the outgoing Vice Chancellor which was attended by
the faculty members, officers, staff and students of the university.
Having
served various institutions of repute both nationally and internationally,
Prof. Khare worked for the upliftment of Sikkim University tirelessly during
his tenure. He was an able administrator who displayed profound leadership
acumen by initiating the process of shifting the university from its rental
spaces in Gangtok to its rightful permanent campus at Yangang.
Prof.
Khare also led Sikkim University to be one of the first universities to
implement the New Education Policy 2020to align with the greater national
educational framework. It was under his able guidance and visionary leadership
that Sikkim University initiated the historical research on saffron farming in
the State of Sikkim, the PIB release mentions.
