GANGTOK,: Citizen Action Party (CAP)-Sikkim successfully convened its Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting on Monday at Melli Dara, marking a significant step toward reinforcing the party’s organizational structure and outlining its strategic roadmap for the future.
A CAP Sikkim press release informs that the meeting was presided over by party president Ganesh K. Rai, while the proceedings were efficiently conducted by vice president (CEC) Sanju Rai.
Representatives from all frontal councils were in attendance and presented comprehensive progress reports, detailing their activities and achievements since the last CEC meeting. After thorough review and deliberation, the council unanimously reaffirmed all resolutions adopted during the 6th CEC Meeting, reiterating the party’s steadfast commitment to its policy framework and principles of good governance, the release informs.
In addition, the council officially adopted seven new resolutions shaping the party’s immediate priorities and long-term goals.
Recognizing the alarming increase in violence against women and the lack of effective government action, CAP-Sikkim resolves to stand firmly against all forms of violence and to advocate for stronger preventive and legal measures to protect women in Sikkim, it was resolved.
CAP-Sikkim also adopted a resolution for regulation of private universities and educational standards. Expressing concern over the deteriorating standards of several private universities in the state, the party calls for strict adherence to academic and administrative criteria, said the party.
CAP-Sikkim urged the government to establish clear regulatory mechanisms to ensure that only credible and quality institutions operate in Sikkim.
“The party expressed deep concern over the longstanding poor condition of NH-10 - the lifeline connecting Sikkim with the rest of India. CAP-Sikkim urges both State and Central authorities to take immediate and effective action, emphasizing that persistent neglect of this issue adversely affects Sikkim’s economy and development,” said the party.
The CAP-Sikkim further resolved to accelerate party expansion, strengthen coordination at all levels, and ensure consistent implementation of directives across constituencies. The party also resolved to work closely with the business community and advocate for fair, growth-oriented policies to ensure economic prosperity for all sections of society, highlighting the need for economic revitalization.
The council resolved to further expand the party’s membership base and strengthen grassroots outreach by engaging citizens directly and spreading awareness about CAP–Sikkim’s principles, policies, and vision for reform, the release states.
In his concluding address, CAP-Sikkim president Ganesh K Rai underscored the importance of unity, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the welfare and aspirations of the people of Sikkim. He further highlighted the relevance of the resolutions adopted and the resolutions passed by the meeting today. To take the party to a greater height, he advised the party cadres to make optimum efforts to implement and execute the resolutions in the interest of the people of Sikkim, the release mentions.
