CM discusses strengthening infrastructure, enhancing cooperation with BRO

GANGTOK, (IPR): A high-level meeting was convened between the Border Roads Organization (BRO) and Government of Sikkim at Mintokgang, chaired by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay today.

Present in the meeting were NB Dahal, Minister for Roads and Bridges department and the principal secretary to the Chief Minister, SD Dhakal.

Representing BRO were Lt General Raghu Srinivasan, Director General of Border Roads, along with Chief Engineer of Project Swastik, Brig Manoj Gupta. In attendance were D Dadul, secretary, Roads and Bridges department, along with senior departmental officials.

The meeting addressed several critical and strategic issues, with a focus on strengthening infrastructure and enhancing cooperation between the BRO and the State government to further bolster Sikkim's development and national security.

The house also deliberated on identifying immediate sustainable solutions for the vulnerable and landslide-prone areas, with a particular focus on North Sikkim. The meeting resolved to conduct a joint inspection of the critical and strategic points in the affected regions to ensure comprehensive assessment and action.

The Chief Minister firmly urged all concerned officials to accelerate the joint inspection and ensure a swift execution of necessary action. He also voiced his deep concern over the urgent need to restore the damaged roads across the State, emphasizing that immediate steps must be taken to expedite the recovery process.

He expressed his gratitude to the Director General of Border Roads, the Chief Engineer of Border Roads, and their team for their presence and valuable suggestions in the successful discussion held.
