GANGTOK,: Sikkim Health minister GT Dhungel on Tuesday reached CMC Hospital
at Vellore and interacted with the patients from Sikkim undergoing medical
treatment there. The visit, as directed by Chief Minister PS Golay, also
included overseeing possible locations for setting up a guest house at Vellore
to benefit the Sikkim patients.
Speaking
with the Sikkim patients at CMC Vellore, Dhungel conveyed the Chief Minister’s
best wishes for their speedy recovery and assured them continued support from
the State government. He also noted their treatment’s progress and requirements
during their stay in Vellore.
The
patients from Sikkim thanked the Health minister and conveyed their gratitude
to the Chief Minister for his best wishes and support.
Dhugel
shared with them that his visit is also to explore good possibilities of a
guest house at Vellore to be set up by the Sikkim government for the benefit of
Sikkim patients and their families undergoing medical treatment there.
CMC
Vellore is a favoured hospital for the patients of Sikkim and also a referral
hospital of the Sikkim government.
Speaking
to the local media, Dhungel mentioned that his Vellore visit is as per the
directive of the Sikkim Chief Minister to ensure that patients from Sikkim do
not face hardships.
The
Health minister was accompanied by Sikkim State Lotteries principal director
Pawan Awasthy.
Dhungel
highlighted that the Sikkim Chief Minister has taken exemplary measures in the
public healthcare sector.
“The
Chief Minister is always concerned about the health and medical treatment of
the people of Sikkim. For their well-being here, he has directed us that a
guest house or a proper structure is located in Vellore so that the patients
coming all the way from Sikkim can be comfortably accommodated and they need
not suffer hardships of finding a hotel accommodation in Vellore,” said the
Health minister.
Dhungel
added that the Sikkim patients are provided with comfortable accommodation in
the State-run Sikkim Houses at New Delhi, Kolkata and Siliguri. Another Sikkim
House is being built in Mumbai and we are proposing the new structure in
Vellore also as most people from Sikkim prefer to come here for treatment, he
said.
