GANGTOK, : Chief Minister PS Golay has said the Sikkimese electorate gave a
“certificate” to the SKM government’s good work in the first term by delivering
an absolute mandate in the 2024 Assembly & Lok Sabha elections.
The SKM
was re-elected to the government with a thumping majority by sweeping 31 seats
out of 32 Assembly seats besides winning the lone Lok Sabha seat also. The PS
Golay-led Krantikaries had first formed the government in the 2019 Assembly
elections with a simple majority.
“In our
first term, we spared no efforts to provide all possible service and support to
the people. In return, we got full support from the people for which we are
grateful to them. Five years ago we had promised to work for the people and the
trust we got in this election is a certificate from the people saying that we
(SKM government) worked well for them,” said the Chief Minister on Wednesday.
Golay was
addressing the valedictory session of the first session of the 11th
Sikkim Legislative Assembly.
Reiterating
his gratitude to the people, the Chief Minister asserted that the SKM
government will work sincerely on its electoral promises of ‘Sunaulo Sikkim,
Samriddha Sikkim’ and the nine ‘guarantees’ made to the people of Sikkim. As
Team Sikkim, we will work for the people, he recorded in the House.

speaking to the media, the Chief Minister informed that the full State Budget
2024-25 would be presented in the Assembly in the first week of July.
First week
of July, said Golay when asked about when the full budget would be placed.
