PAKYONG, (IPR): A meetand
greet cum felicitation programme was organised by Former Legislators Federation
of Sikkim (FLFS)at Saramsa Gardentoday.
The day was observed to bring together former legislators,
dignitaries and their families in a spirit of unity to celebrate their legacy
and service to the State.
Roads and Bridges minister N.B.Dahalwas present as
the chief guest of the programme also attended by Deputy SpeakerRaj KumariThapa,
Health minister G.T. Dhungel, Chief Minister’s advisors Bishnu Kumar Khatiwada
and PhuchungBhutiaalong with chairpersons and advisors from various
departments.
Addressing the gathering, minister N.B.Dahal
congratulated the federation for organising the event and emphasised on the
importance of the platform in enabling collaboration and collective
responsibility towards the development of the State.
He then stated that the gathering serves as an
opportunity to strengthen cooperation and assured to address the concern of the
federation with necessary support from the State
government.
Additionally, FLFS president G.M.Gurung
underscored the democratic functioning of the organisation in contributing to
the development of the state government. He then acknowledged the role played
by the former legislators in strengthening the framework and constitutional
foundation of the state, while recalling on the challenges and achievements in
shaping its progress.
He further urged the members irrespective of their
political affiliations to work in unity and encouraged to share suggestions to
uplift various sectors of the state.
Furthermore, FLFS secretary A.K.Ghataniextended
his gratitude to the attendees and stressed the importance of coordinated
efforts for the State’s progress.
A felicitation ceremony was also held, wherein the
federation honoured the “Champions of Democracy” and recognised the
contributions of first-term living legislators of the State, NB Khatiwada and
Mohan Gurung, for their service and significant role in public life.
The programme also had the presence of prominent
former legislators, official members of the federation along with the family
members of late former MLAs.
