Gangtok DC inspects Ranikhola Walkway, directs urgent repairs

RANGPO,:  Gangtok district collector Tushar G. Nikhare along with Madhya Bharati Power Corporation officers conducted a joint inspection of wall at Ranikhola Walkway at Shantinagar near Singtam on Saturday.

Water resources department officers, Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti president Krishna Chettri and members along with ward panchayat Deepa Chettri were also present during the inspection. The wall alongside the walkway is in deteriorated state and in need of immediate repair.

Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti had underlined the urgency for the repair work of the wall along Ranikhola walkway last month through a letter to the DC to avoid any mishaps in future, it was informed.

The inspection was done thoroughly and measurement has been taken. The DC has directed Water resources department along with Madhya Bharati Power Corporation to undertake the repairs before the rainy season.

Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti and residents of Shantinagar have thanked the DC for his immediate response.

The DC appreciated the work of the Samiti in bringing to knowledge about the important repair work.

Also present during the inspection were Sonam Wangyal Lepcha, deputy director, DDMA, concerned officials and engineers.
