GEN Z: The Rising Superpower

MK SUBBA

“Ma Sabse Garib Manchey Nepal Ko Sabse Dhani Manchey Ko Ghar Ma Pas Dai Chu” (I am the poorest man entering the richest man of Nepal’s house)

A Gen Z protest was heard self-commenting while entering the premises of Shri Bimod Chaudhary, the richest man, the only billionaire of Nepal.

What hit Nepal in the last 48 hours is the outcome of many years of social inequality, unemployment, lack of economic opportunity and exclusion leading to force migration out of Nepal in search for survival.

Nepal was governed by 13 different governments in the last 18 years. Clearly showing the political instability of the nation. The richest 10% have amassed income three times that of the bottom 40% visible in the political class, elites & associates affluency and extravagant lifestyle which further catalysed & fuelled the breaking point of the violent agitation. Nepal currently in flames but cusped yet again in its historical turning point.

But the Gen Z resolves to rebuilt Nepal & create their own future - surely, they will- wish them luck.

Whatever good bad or ugly, they punished the villains immediately and erased their ill-gotten property and assets too.

But in India, especially in Sikkim, the villains escape unpunished as they are washed through either an anti-corruption washing machine or they are immersed in the holy water of the next ruling government and are recycled and VIP-ed again continuing with the same political Swiss banks, cronies and middlemen.

Only the janata-voters face the brunt/wrath/iron fist & victimisation of the regime change as the whole of government machinery are used to suppress/ isolate/ terrorise including slapping of botched up cases to silence any dissenting voice.

But Sikkim too has a sizeable Gen Z population as of some 78,185 (2001 census, age 0-6 years) were born in Sikkim means they are now at their peak of energy, strength & aspirations too, though may be employed/ unemployment or in any good or bad circumstances but you all are in Sikkim or connected definitely. So Hello everyone. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “The future depends on what you do today”, a lot will depend on how you all want to see Sikkim ahead now as we face multiple challenges on the Socio-eonomic & political fronts.

The Gen Z of Nepal has proved that youths are not only the democratic dividends but can change the course of history of any nation anytime.

We salute their ultimate sacrifice - taking bullets on the forehead as 19 young lives were lost in the war against political corruption, nepotism & elite affluency to which the Gen Z won decisively  in just 24 hours. This rapid turn of events in Nepal will surely inspire youths in all ages to come when confronted by similar corrupt power.

Lastly best wishes to Nepal and its Gen Z as it will commemorate its Nation Day/ Constitutional Day on the 19th of September 2025 to lay the foundation for a new Nepal.
