General Observer directives on flag regulations

NAMCHI, (IPR): Amar Nath Upadhyay, the General Observer for Namchi district, accompanied by Sector Magistrate Mingma Tashi Sherpa and Sector Police Officer Palmula Bhutia, visited critical polling stations under Melli Assembly constituency today.

The General Observer directed the Sector Magistrate and the Sector Police Officer to detain all vehicles as well as two wheelers moving with oversized party flags and also the vehicle moving with flags without campaign or rally permission provided by the concerned authority.

He informed that the specific prescribed size of the flag is 3×2 ft for four wheelers and 1×1/2 ft for two wheelers as per the guidelines of Election Commission of India.

Further, he said that one vehicle or bike cannot have more than one flag unless permission is granted from the DEO and recorded in expenditure account of the candidate.

He also directed Sector Magistrate and Sector Police Officer to instruct all concerned to strictly adhere to the guidelines of the ECI in this concern.
