GANGTOK,: Sikkim mountaineer Manita Pradhan has successfully summited Mount Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica, moving one step closer to completing the prestigious Seven Summits challenge.
The ascent of the Vinson Massif marks the sixth summit in Pradhan’s “Project Seven Summits”, an ambitious quest to climb the highest mountains on each of the seven continents. With this achievement, only Mount Kosciuszko in Australia remains for her to complete the challenge.
Mount Vinson, rising to 4,892 metres, is located in one of the most remote and extreme environments on Earth, with climbers facing severe cold, high winds and logistical challenges unique to the Antarctic region.
Once she completes the final ascent in Australia, Pradhan will join a select group of mountaineers worldwide to have conquered all seven continental summits.
