Mayor calls on MoS, discuss Gangtok city developmental needs

GANGTOK,: Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) Mayor Tshering Palden Bhutia on Wednesday called on the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, at his office in New Delhi in the presence of Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba.

As directed by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), the delegation held discussions on seeking relaxation in property tax norms to enable access to grants under the 15th and 16th Finance Commissions, proposals for the overall development of Gangtok city requiring Central financial support, and the progress of ongoing initiatives under the Swachh Bharat Mission, a press release informs.

The Minister assured the delegation of his full support and cooperation and conveyed that the issues raised would be taken up with the concerned authorities for necessary action.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of all stakeholders towards strengthening urban infrastructure and building a cleaner, stronger and more vibrant Gangtok, the release mentions.
