MoS reviews Central schemes implementation in Pakyong district

PAKYONG, (IPR): Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India, on the concluding day of his three-day official visit to Sikkim, attended a review meeting with the district officials of Pakyong district at Rurban Complex Saturday.

The meeting was focused on strengthening local development and governance through collaborative efforts and strategies with centrally sponsored schemes.

Addressing the gathering, Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs, expressed gratitude to the administration, stating that his second visit was to the State, applauding the humility of the Sikkimese people. He underlined the importance of the Centrally sponsored schemes and urged the officials to work diligently to meet the targets while ensuring that these initiatives reach as many individuals as possible.

In addition, he encouraged to raise awareness of such schemes to the public for more active participation, further stressing the measures to eradicate tuberculosis cases from the State.

Further, he provided assurance to highlight the challenges of the district to the higher authorities and facilitate towards bringing in solutions to the issues addressed.

Earlier, the Minister of State (MoS) also visited the stalls where a variety of organic vegetables and products were on display. He engaged in conversations with the vendors and gained insights into the agricultural practices of the region.

Rohan Agawane, DC Pakyong, provided an overview of the district, outlining its various achievements and the projects currently in progress. In addition, he highlighted the milestones the district has achieved since its establishment and informed on the initiatives being implemented for the development of the district.

Additionally, a series of presentations was delivered by the heads of various departmental offices, during which Robin Pd Sewa, ADC (Development), offered a concise update on the centrally sponsored schemes administered by the departments. This included an overview of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Swachh Bharat Mission, and activities carried out under MGNREGA, while also addressing the associated challenges.

In addition, Madan Mani Dhakal, CMO Pakyong, shared insights on the health facilities being provided in the district while informing on the National Health Programmes on centrally sponsored schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), TB Mukht GPU and Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra.

Narayan Mishra, Chief Education Officer in-charge, Pakyong district, in his presentation shared insights on the schemes such as PM Poshan, NILP, Samagra Siksha and NIPUN Bharat.

Subsequently, Hissey Bhutia, deputy director, Horticulture department, outlined schemes implemented in the district, which included the Prime Minister Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), PM-Kisan, and PM Fasal Bima Yojana, showcasing its progress.

Moreover, Bijay Guragai, DE Power department, provided information on the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), sharing its scope, finances, and physical progress.

Also present were Prabha Pradhan, Zilla Upadhaksya; SK Meena, DIG, ITBP; Dhan Maya Subba, SP Pakyong; SDM (HQ); SDM Pakyong, SDM Rangpo along with Head of Offices, Panchayats and officials from various line departments.

Also present were progressive farmers and SHG members.
