Peek TV co-founders Vedanta Agarwal & Priyanshi Sharma among speakers
GANGTOK, (IPR): The National Press Day, observed nationwide on November 16, honours the important role of the press in strengthening democracy. In this spirit, the National Press Day Celebration 2025 will be held in Gangtok on November 25, based on the theme “Safeguarding Press Credibility Amidst Rising Misinformation.”
The annual programme will recognise journalists for their contributions to ethical and responsible reporting and will feature addresses by several eminent speakers.
Among the keynote speakers is Vedanta Agarwal, co-founder of Peek TV and India’s youngest prime-time news anchor at 23. A former principal anchor with NDTV, he has covered major elections, key national events and hosted flagship programmes such as “Left, Right and Centre” and “We The People”. A topper from the Asian College of Journalism and “ENBA Young Journalist of the Year 2024,” he is also a trained classical vocalist and storyteller.
Also speaking at the event is Priyanshi Sharma, co-founder of Peek TV, an award-winning journalist and mediapreneur recognised with the “NT Young Journalist of the Year” and “ENBA 40 Under 40” awards. She has reported for NDTV, The Wire and Scroll, offering a fresh and engaging approach to digital news, further strengthened by her management training at ISB.
Adding to the digital discussions of the programme, Sorav Jain, founder of Digital Scholar and echoVME Digital, will deliver a special address. Known as India’s leading AI and digital marketing coach, he has trained more than 5 lakh learners, authored bestselling books and conducted over 500 workshops across India and abroad.
The ceremony will be attended by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang as the chief guest. The event will also have the presence of officials, members of the press and media fraternity, university students and the general public.
Organised by IPR department, this year’s National Press Day celebration highlights the need to protect press credibility and promote fair and responsible journalism in today’s information-driven world.
