NE Games: Sikkim finishes sixth in medals tally with 5 gold, 7 silver & 19 bronze

GANGTOK, : Sikkim finished sixth at the recently-concluded North East Games in Nagaland with a total of 31 medals, including 5 gold, 7 silver and 19 bronze medals.

Manipur topped the list with 130 - 52 gold, 38 silver and 40 bronze medals.

The 3rd North East Games was held in Nagaland from March 18 to 23. Sikkim had sent a contingent of 180 athletes and officials.

Sikkim won 4 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals in athletics, 1 gold in basketball, 2 silver and 5 bronze in boxing, 3 bronze in Pencak Silat , 1 silver and 3  bronze in taekwondo, and 5 bronze in Wushu. During the closing ceremony, Sikkim was awarded most disciplined and fair play trophy.

Sikkim Olympic Association, in a press release, has congratulated all the athletes, coaches and Sports associations for and bringing laurels to the State, and has thanked State government and Sports & Youth Affairs department for the support.
