GANGTOK,: The Rotary Club of Gangtok South officially commenced its new administrative year by hosting its 19th Installation Ceremony at a local hotel here on Thursday evening. The event brought together distinguished guests, dedicated Rotarians, and well-wishers to celebrate the club's achievements and welcome its incoming leadership, a press release on Friday informs.
The event was graced by Sonam Norgay Lachungpa, Chairman, Tourism & Civil Aviation Department as the chief guest, alongside AmitPatro, Chief Editor of Sikkim Express, who attended as the guest of honour.
In the absence of outgoing club president Rtn. Bhaichung Lepcha, vice president Rtn. Bina Sharma officially called the meeting to order and welcomed the gathered dignitaries.
The evening saw the formal transition of leadership for the Rotary Year 2026–27, as Rtn. GopalBasnett assumed office as the new club president, and Rtn. PrakashSundas was installed as club secretary.
The newly appointed leadership team pledged to deepen the club's commitment to Rotary International’s core ideals through sustainable development, fellowship, and impactful community service.
Alongside the president and secretary, the club’s executive committee includes Rtn. Bina Sharma as vice president, Rtn. TarunSarda as joint secretary, and Rtn. Mala RanaPatro as treasurer.
Before the passing of the gavel, secretary Rtn. PrakashSundas presented the comprehensive Annual Report for the Rotary Year 2025–26, showcasing a successful year of strategic community development projects, local youth empowerment programmes, and vital humanitarian initiatives.
The club also celebrated its growing footprint in Sikkim by officially inducting two prominent local citizens into the global Rotary fellowship – Sunila Verma and Bikash Gadaily, the release mentions.
