Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadi Kendra inaugurated at Jorethang

NAMCHI, (IPR): A Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadi Kendra was inaugurated at Jorethang community health centre today by area MLA Madan Cintury.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA lauded the department and Jorethang Urban Cooperative Society Ltd for their initiative to provide the centre through which the local public can avail the generic medicines at discounted prices.

Further, he advised the panchayats to proactively disseminate the details of the centre to the public at the earliest and aware them about the benefits of the medicines available at the centre.

He also advised the officials to be updated about the inventory of the centre and work earnestly to keep the medicines available at all times so that the public may not face any challenges to procure the generic medicines in the future.

In her address, Cooperation secretary Gloria Namchu informed the gathering about the initiative of the department to establish the centres in the State in accordance and guidelines provided by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India.

She mentioned that around 2000 high quality medicines, and 300 surgical equipment along with other basic medicines are available at the centre at discounted prices.

She urged the public to come forward and procure medicines from the centre as it has been established to ease their lives in relation to their health and care necessities.

NJNP president Pavitra Manav urged the local public to be assured about the medicine quality and procure them. He also stated that the administration of NJNP shall always support the department and the cooperative society to establish newer centres and aware the public of the centre.

CMO SN Adhikari briefly talked about the generic medicines available at the centre. He stated that the centre aims to provide affordable and qualitative medicines to the public at 50 to 90 per cent discounted rates.

He stated that all the medicines are tested and approved before the inclusion in the inventory for the distribution. Further he also stated that the generic medicines works the same as branded medicines and are effective in the same way.

Later, the secretary along with principal registrar, additional registrar, joint registrar of Cooperation department and Jorethang Urban Cooperative Society Ltd president visited the local MPCS building at Jorethang and assessed the situation of the building. The secretary assured to provide necessary help to renovate the building through proper channelization.

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadi Kendra at Jorethang CHC has been set-up by Jorethang Urban Cooperative Service Ltd under the aegis of Cooperation department, Namchi.
