GANGTOK,: Pralakshya Sharma, co-founder of Everest Intelligence Group and originally from Sikkim, participated in the 2nd World Summit for Social Development as a delegate of the Belgium-based Atlas Movement (NOW!). a press release informs.

Held from 4–6 November at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), the Summit gathered representatives from 186 nations, culminating in the adoption of the Doha Political Declaration, a collective commitment to advancing social inclusion, decent work, and sustainable development.

Sharma served on the panel, representing the Indian perspective, alongside experts from Chad, Nigeria and Ghana during the closing session titled: “Safeguarding Indigenous and Traditional Medicine in the Face of Climate Change and Environmental Degradation.”

Speaking from a Himalayan standpoint, Sharma described how climate instability is disrupting traditional knowledge systems. He noted that poetry, art and oral traditions that once strengthened communities are increasingly reduced to processed forms, losing their natural and cultural grounding.

He emphasised that warming temperatures and environmental degradation are erasing ancestral repositories of lived data-knowledge built through generations of direct observation.

“It is important to listen to our elders,” Sharma said. “Not every custom is conditioning. Many preserve ecological intelligence that helped communities adapt for centuries.”

An alumnus of Holy Cross School, Tadong, Sharma now leads Everest Intelligence Group, a data-intelligence start-up in Siliguri. His intervention at the Summit connected indigenous wisdom with contemporary resilience strategies, offering a grounded Himalayan perspective to a global audience, the release mentions.
