Residents of Pangthang Naya Busty Seek Immediate Drinking Water Supply

LETTER

Dear Editor,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, we, the residents of Pangthang Naya Busty, would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the delay in the supply of drinking water under the newly installed PHE water connection in our locality.

About a year ago, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim had kindly approved funds for the installation of the PHE water connection, following which the project was completed. Subsequently, in October last year, as directed by the department, the residents duly paid the required revenue charges for the new connections. However, despite the passage of more than six months, the department has yet to commence the water supply.

The people of the area are facing immense hardship due to the lack of a reliable source of drinking water, especially during the winter season when water scarcity becomes severe. Pangthang is also a popular tourist destination, and the ongoing water crisis is adversely affecting not only the daily lives of residents but also the local economy dependent on tourism.

We therefore earnestly urge the officials of the PHE Department to kindly take immediate steps to ensure the supply of drinking water to the residents of Pangthang Naya Busty at the earliest.

Your’s etc,

Public of Pangthang Naya Busty
