Scouts and Guides Investiture Ceremony at Chief Minister’s Model School

GANGTOK,: The Scouts and Guides Investiture Ceremony was held at Chief Minister’s Model School, Assam Lingzey, on Friday for 58 students who had enrolled in May 2025. The occasion was especially significant as every single student of the school has enrolled in the Scouts and Guides, achieving 100% participation, a press release inform.

Dr. H. P. Chhetri, State Chief Commissioner of the Sikkim Scouts and Guides, graced the event as the chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by State Commissioner (Guides) Meena Bhutia, State Secretary (Scouts and Guides) Prakash Kazi Shakya, and other distinguished functionaries of the Sikkim Scouts and Guides.

Special guests included Dr. Keshav Gautam, principal of Assam Lingzey Senior Secondary School; Dr. Abhinay Chhetri, director of Greenwood Academy; and Karun Kumar Pradhan, director of King George School, Saramsa. The investiture was also witnessed by Scouts and Guides Masters of Baha’i Senior Secondary School, Saramsa, and King George School, Saramsa.

The school’s own dedicated team of Guides and Scouts Masters— Kamala Dahal and Neeta Mangar (Guide Captains), along with Sundar Nepal and Asbin Rai (Scout Masters)—played a vital role in organizing and mentoring the students for the occasion.

The programme commenced with the flag ceremony, followed by the formal investiture and a vibrant cultural presentation by the students.

In his address, Dr. H. P. Chhetri emphasized that the Scouts and Guides, a century-old movement, embodies the principle of learning by doing, closely aligned with the vision of NEP 2020. He lauded the school for introducing students to the Scouts and Guides at such an impressionable age, noting that it would significantly shape their personality while nurturing leadership and discipline.

Director CMMS, Colonel Ujjwal Khatiwada, reaffirmed the school’s conscious commitment to ensure that every child enrolled in the school becomes a member of the Bharat Scouts and Guides. He expressed heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Sikkim Scouts and Guides fraternity for their efficiency, commitment, and unwavering support, the release mentions.
