SFA delegation meets AFC executives in Malaysia

GANGTOK, : A Sikkim Football Association (SFA) executive team led by president Menla Ethenpa on February 4 paid a courtesy visit to Asian Football Confederation (AFC) office at Kaula Lampur, Malaysia.

AFC General Secretary Dato Seri Windsor John, while interacting with the SFA delegation, welcomed AIFF’s positive step to resolved ISL issue and for announcing February 14 as new date to restart, informs a SFA press release.

He said AFC has very high hope from a vast country like India to develop football. He further appreciated the role of North Eastern States of India for making football vibrant in the region.

While interacting with AFC officials, SFA president Menla Ethenpa, also the AIFF finance committee chairman, thanked the AFC for welcoming the SFA delegation to the AFC House and conveyed the AIFF president’s greetings to the AFC.

Ethenpa informed AFC on how Sikkim with the support of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay is marching ahead from the grassroots level to develop Sikkim football.

Sikkim conducts one of the oldest tournaments in the country in the name of All India Governor’s Gold Cup and one of the highest prized tournaments in the name of All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup, it was informed to the AFC.

Ethenpa also appreciated the new initiative of AFC to introduce AFC League in near future, which is surely going to be turning point for the development of Asian Football in coming days.

The SFA delegation returned home after a 10-day exposure trip to Malaysia and Vietnam, the release mentions.
