SHG members from West Sikkim attend Independence Day event in Delhi

GANGTOK, : Members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Bermiok Berthang Federation in West Sikkim attended Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi as special guests. They were nominated by State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) and Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) to represent Sikkim under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme.

As special guests, the SHG members attended the national celebrations and participated in a programme organised at Indian Agricultural Research Institute (Pusa Institute), where they interacted with Union Rural Development minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. The Union minister gave a patient hearing to their concerns and extended his blessings and encouragement for their future initiatives, informs a SRLM press release.
