GANGTOK,: Sikkim mountaineer Tshering Choden has successfully climbed Mount
Elbrus (5,642 metres), the highest peak in Europe, completing the second
milestone of the prestigious Seven Summits Challenge.
Choden
reached the summit of Mount Elbrus on July 5 at 7:30 am along with a team of
Nepalese climbers that included Raju Lama, Abiral Rai and others. The
successful ascent marks another significant achievement in her growing
mountaineering career.
Earlier,
on August 15, 2025, Choden had scaled Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain
in Africa at 5,895 metres. With the completion of Kilimanjaro and Elbrus, she
has now successfully conquered two of the Seven Summits - the highest peaks on
each continent.
Her
next major expedition is planned for January, when she aims to climb Aconcagua,
the highest mountain in South America.
Choden
has undergone formal training and completed the Basic Mountaineering Course
from Chemchey, Namchi district. Over the years, she has built extensive
high-altitude experience through several challenging expeditions and treks.
Among
her notable achievements are treks to Everest Base Camp and Pangarchulla Peak,
along with numerous other high-altitude Himalayan routes, a press release
