Sikkim Taekwondo Athletes shine at 5th National Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2026

GANGTOK,: Team Sikkim delivered an outstanding performance of the Sikkim contingent at the 5th National Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2026, held in Pune, Maharashtra, from 8th to 11th July, informed the Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association (SATA).

Representing the State with great dedication, discipline, and sportsmanship, the athletes delivered remarkable performances across various categories, bringing home multiple medals and making Sikkim proud on the national stage, said the SATA in a media statement.

Reyong Hangma Rai and Trilok Subba won gold medals in the junior girl’s individual and men’s under 60 individual categories.

The silver medallists were Ganga Ram Pradhan and Adwayti Subba in individual events. Four silver medals were secured in team contests.

Ismarika Gurung, Kelzang Yudon Bhutia & Sonam Tshering Bhutia, and Selden Lhamu Lepcha won the bronze medals.

The Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association extended its heartfelt appreciation to all athletes for their hard work, determination, and commitment in representing the state with pride. Their achievements reflect the growing strength and standard of taekwondo in Sikkim, said the association.

SATA also expressed its sincere gratitude to the team's coaches, Ganga Ram Pradhan and Ugen Gurung, whose dedicated guidance and tireless efforts played a vital role in preparing the athletes for this national championship.

“The Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association congratulates the entire contingent on this remarkable achievement and wishes them continued success in future national and international competitions. Their accomplishments continue to inspire young athletes and bring immense pride to the State of Sikkim,” said the association.
