GANGTOK,: Sikkim physiotherapist Dr. Yashna Chettri has been appointed to assist the Indian Senior Women’s football team during their ongoing training camp and upcoming international exposure tour in Skopje, North Macedonia.
The opportunity comes after Dr. Chettri’s commendable service during the exhibition match between India and Nepal held at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok, on October 29.
In the absence of the Indian team’s physiotherapist, the Sikkim Football Association (SFA) had deputed Dr. Chettri to assist the team during their three-day practice session in Gangtok. Impressed by her professionalism and dedication, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) asked SFA president Menla Ethenpa if the services of Dr. Chettri could be spared to assist the Indian national women's team, informs a press release.
Ethenpa thanked AIFF for giving an opportunity to Sikkimese physio and confirmed Dr. Chettri’s availability after consulting with her. She has since joined the Indian women’s team in Kolkata, where the players are currently undergoing a preparatory camp ahead of their European tour, the release mentions.
Dr. Chettri thanked SFA for the “golden opportunity” and assured that she would “give 101 per cent” in fulfilling her duties with the national side.
