Gangtok,: The ruling SKM party held a coordination meeting for the Gangtok Assembly Constituency today at the Scheduled Caste Bhawan, Development Area here.
Gangtok MLA Delay Namgyal Barfungpa was the chief guest for the meeting during which the newly formed constituency-level committees were formally welcomed.
In his concluding address, Barfungpa congratulated the newly appointed committee members and urged them to work responsibly in alignment with the party’s ideology and vision. He inspired members to dedicate themselves to the welfare and prosperity of Gangtok constituency. He urged all committee members and party workers to work together for the greater good of the constituency and the SKM party.
During the program, the Gangtok MLA handed over appointment letters to newly formed ward-level and youth committee members from various wards under the Gangtok constituency.
Addressing the gathering, councillor Sandeep Malu highlighted the ongoing developmental works being carried out by the SKM government and the Gangtok Municipal Corporation under the MG Marg ward. He expressed gratitude towards the public for their continued cooperation and support.
Councillor Diki Lhamu Lepcha emphasized major achievements, including the construction of the Wellness Park at the old STNM Hospital complex and the Swarna Jayanti Maitreya Manjari at Ridge Park. She urged citizens to take collective responsibility in maintaining these infrastructures and also stressed the need to ensure the quality of ongoing projects such as the Unity Mall.
District committee president Chungchung Bhutia called upon party workers to reach out to the underprivileged and those in need, emphasizing the importance of door-to-door outreach campaigns. She asserted that a strong grassroots organization ensures the party’s strength in any election.
SIMFED chairman Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia called for unity within the party and advised members to move forward together by avoiding factionalism.
SKM students’ wing president Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha informed about the launch of a new podcast program aimed at facilitating interaction and discussions among students. He also urged youth and members to actively prepare for the forthcoming municipal elections.
Deputy Mayor Tshering Palden Bhutia stressed the need for regular coordination meetings at the constituency level. She appreciated the councillors’ efforts in ensuring balanced development across all wards and expressed gratitude towards the electorate. She also appealed to members to counter anti-party narratives on social media and to widely promote the achievements of the SKM government.
CLC president Sanjeev Gurung highlighted the importance of effective coordination among various party branches and members, calling for collective efforts to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level.
