GANGTOK,: A capacity-building workshop on PM Gati Shakti Portal was organized Wednesday at the conference hall of Tashiling Secretariat.
The workshop was held in partnership between Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), BISAG-N, the technical agency for PM Gati Shakti, and State Commerce & Industries department. The workshop was designed to equip State officials with critical skills for integrated infrastructure planning and effective utilization of the PM Gati Shakti portal, focusing on alignment with national infrastructural priorities, informs a press release.
The workshop was attended by officials from different departments including Planning & Development, Roads & Bridges, Tourism & Civil Aviation, Forest department, Land Revenue & Disaster Management, Mines & Geology, Rural Management & Development, Building & Housing, Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Power, PHE, Food & Civil Supplies, Water Resources, IT, Urban Development & Housing and Commerce & Industries department.
In her welcome address, Industries director Choden Gyatso expressed gratitude to the Ministry of DoNER for initiating the technical workshop for Sikkim. She highlighted the significance of this training in enabling state departments to align project planning with the nation’s infrastructural goals. She emphasized that the PM Gati Shakti Portal under the DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce would serve as a vital tool for State departments to improve project planning and inter-departmental coordination, ultimately contributing to the holistic development of Sikkim.
The keynote address was delivered virtually by Vikash Gupta, director, Ministry of DoNER, who spoke about the transformative potential of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, emphasizing its ability to enhance multi-modal connectivity and optimize infrastructure resources. He encouraged participants to leverage the portal's real-time project tracking and coordination features to foster inter-departmental synergy.
During the day long workshop, officials from BISAG-N demonstrated the State Master Plan (SMP) for Sikkim and highlighted the use of various GIS based tools that aid in project planning and decision making. The workshop was attended by Shri.Amit Kumar, Ministry of DoNER, Govt of India who also briefed about the Purvottar Vikas Setu Portal aimed at streamlining and smoothening project approvals under the Ministry of DoNER.
The BISAG-N team also provided hands on training to the participants on use of the GIS based decision support and planning tools. The technical session was conducted by officials from BISAG –N where the participants engaged in hands-on sessions on data integration, project planning, and collaborative approaches to project implementation and resolved many queries and clarifications.
