GANGTOK,: The Tiranga Yatra Committee, Gangtok, organised a Tiranga Rally on
Sunday at Gangtok under the nationwide HarGharTirangaAbhiyan to commemorate the
80th Independence Day and celebrate the spirit of national unity, pride and
patriotism.
The
rally commenced from Star Mall and culminated at Manan Kendra, with
participants carrying the national flag and raising patriotic slogans.
The
programme was attended by BJP Sikkim State President D.R. Thapa, who spoke to
the media on the significance of the four day programme being organised from
August 9 to 14.
Thapa
said the programme began with the TirangaYatra on Sunday, while from Monday,
the campaign would focus on placing the Tricolour in every household across
Sikkim as part of the HarGharTirangaAbhiyan.
He
said the primary objective of the Yatra was to showcase love and respect for
the nation and to strengthen the spirit of national unity among citizens.
Thapa
also paid homage to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the
country’s independence and expressed respect for the soldiers guarding the
nation’s borders.He urged people to actively participate in the celebrations
and display the national flag with pride as a mark of patriotism and respect
for the country.
