Tibetan NSA to take on CRPF Jalandhar

GANGTOK: Tibetan National Sports Association, based in Dharamshala, is a relatively new side featuring in the 37th Governor’s Gold Cup football tournament here. However, it is coached by former SAI Namchi coach PempaTshering and has local star striker Tenzin Tshepel along with local boy Tenzin Dhoeden.
The squad has been training at Paljor Stadium since September 27 and faces CRPF Jallandhar on October 7 (Saturday) afternoon.
Speaking with SIKKIM EXPRESS, coach Pempa informed that the Tibetan National Sports Association players for Governor’s Gold Cup was selected from an earlier tournament in April organised at Kollegal, Karnataka. Teams from various Tibetan associations had participated in the tournament held annually in memory of the mother of the Dalai Lama. From the tournament, the best players were asked to join the selection camp at Clement Town, Dehradun.
After the selection camp, the 20-member squad for the Sikkim football tournament was selected, said Pempa.
