GANGTOK, : Himalaya Roadies Season 6 winner Joseph Sharma was recognized for his victory in the international reality show by Chief Minister’s spouse and former MLA Krishna Kumari Rai, along with Health minister GT Dhungel, Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa, Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Bikash Basnet, State government officials, and Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party officials at an event organized at Saramsa today.

An initiative of Chief Minister’spress secretary Yougan Tamang and OSD Karma Subba, the event was organized to acknowledge Joseph Sharma’s hard work and dedication in making Sikkim proud by representing the State and winning the coveted title of Himalaya Roadies Season 6.

Twenty-eight-year-old Joseph Sharma hails from Khanihola Chanautay in Majitar, East Sikkim. Professionally, he serves in the IRB 3rd Battalion.

Congratulating Joseph on behalf of the State government and Chief Minister PS Golay, Krishna Rai thanked and applauded Sharma for his achievement in winning Himalayan Roadies and bringing pride to Sikkim. “Winning is not an easy task as it requires immense hard work and dedication. The State government appreciates your success and the honour you have brought to Sikkim. The CM’s vision is to support hidden talents from Sikkim and acknowledge the contributions of women and youth. Although the CM could not attend today’s event due to prior commitments, the State government will definitely felicitate Joseph in a grand manner later,” she added.

Earlier, Joseph had expressed his aspiration to represent Sikkim internationally in javelin throw competitions. On behalf of the CM and the State government, Rai assured full support for Joseph’s passion. “Your dream will definitely come true,” said the former MLA.

Minister GT Dhungel stated, “Sharma has made the entire State of Sikkim proud. As an IRB officer, he has demonstrated dedication, discipline, determination, and morality, qualities essential in every field.” He further assured 100 percent support and encouragement for Joseph Sharma in his future javelin representation at the international level.

MP Indra Hang Subba encouraged the youth to take inspiration from Joseph and other such athletes and artists from Sikkim. He also assured his support for Joseph’s javelin aspirations.

Joseph Sharma expressed gratitude to the State government, the CM and his spouse, Sikkim Police, DGP Akshay Sachdeva, his family, friends, and well-wishers for their continuous support and encouragement. “The journey wasn’t easy—it felt like living my whole life in a short span. The competition was tough, but all of us brought our best versions to win,” he shared.

“I was previously selected to represent Sikkim in the Northeast for javelin, but I was unable to participate due to work commitments. However, I am determined to pursue javelin and represent Sikkim at the national and international levels in the future,” he added.

Himalaya Roadies is an adventure-based Nepalese reality show and a franchise of the MTV Roadies series. It is broadcast on the Nepalese network Himalaya TV and airs weekly for an hour. Participants undertake challenging tasks to become a Roadie.

This season, the reality show featured 16 finalists.
