GANGTOK,: Chief Minister PS Golay on Friday announced a four per cent hike in DA for the State government employees with the enhanced dearness allowance amounting to Rs. 121 crore to be released before the Dasai festival.

The State government is presently getting 38% DA, we are increasing it by 4% to make it 42% with retrospective effect from January 1, 2023 and the employees would be getting the amount with arrears by Dasai, said the Chief Minister while addressing a programme at Rabongla bazaar.

He informed that the State government would be spending Rs. 121 crore annually to implement the revised DA.

The Chief Minister also informed that the State government would be implementing ‘One Rank, One Pension’ (OROP) policy to have a uniformity in pensions for the retired State government employees. He expressed that the ‘OROP’ is aimed to remove the difference in pensions among the government employees who retired in the past and those retiring recently.

“Those who had retired in the past and those who retired recently, they are not getting the same retirement benefits because it is determined as per the pay scale on which they had retired. Hence, we are implementing the ‘One Rank, One Pension’ scheme for retired government employees so that everyone gets the same pension,” said Golay.

In his address, Golay reiterated that the State government would be reintroducing the old pension scheme for the State government employees, and regularize the services of OFOJ employees and all casual workers of the State government.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the State government is expanding the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY) by constructing five SGAY houses in each ward.
