CM congratulates Forest Dept for award on implementing Environment Education Programme

GANGTOK,: Chief Minister PS Golay has congratulated the Forest & Environment department on being conferred as the Best State award for excellence in implementing Environment Education Programme for the year 2023-24 by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

In his congratulatory message, the Chief Minister said: “I am delighted to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Forest and Environment department for being conferred as the Best State for excellence in implementing Environment Education Programme for the year 2023-24 by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India.

“This esteemed recognition is a testament to the unwavering dedication, innovative approaches, and tireless efforts in fostering environmental awareness and education throughout our State. The exemplary work of the department has not only enhanced the understanding and appreciation of our natural heritage among citizens but has also significantly contributed to Sikkim's reputation as a pioneer in sustainable and eco-friendly initiatives,” said the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister added that the achievement reflects the collective commitment and hard work of each member of the Forest and Environment department as well as all the stakeholders. It is a source of great pride for all of us and serves as an inspiration to continue striving towards our shared goal of preserving and protecting the environment for future generations, he said.
