GANGTOK, (IPR): Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang today convened a meeting with the officers of Sikkim State General Service.
During the meeting, the association took the opportunity to provide an update on its current status. The Chief Minister, in turn, expressed the government’s unwavering commitment in enhancing the welfare of general service holders. It was highlighted that promotions continue to be granted periodically in accordance with established government criteria and norms.
The Chief Minister also took a moment to laud the dedication and enthusiasm exhibited by the association members in their service to the State, encouraging them to sustain this high level of commitment.
In a significant development, the government has pledged to evaluate the proposals put forth by the association. Additionally, the government has resolved to address the cadre review request in accordance with established norms.
This meeting marks a pivotal moment in the journey towards better conditions and recognition for the general service cadre in Sikkim.
After the welcome address by SSGS president and Women and Child Development principal director Normit Lepcha, the president and members felicitated the Chief Minister for his trust towards the SGS officers and building an environment of growth, inclusivity, and meritocracy.
Likewise, SSGS general secretary and LRDD additional director Rajiv Roka, Additional Director gave a detailed presentation on the genesis of SGS and placed proposals to the Chief Minister regarding the current state of the SGS cadre.
The meeting had the attendance of T. Kizom Bhutia, secretary to Chief Minister, and Rinzing Chewang Bhutia, secretary, DOP and Planning and Development department.
