GANGTOK,: Chief Minister PS Golay on Wednesday informed that the SKM has extended its support to the NDA with the BJP-led alliance preparing to form the government at the Centre for the third consecutive term.

We have already extended our support to the NDA and I had a talk on this with the Union Home minister yesterday, said Golay, also the SKM president, to the media here.

The NDA held a meeting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence at New Delhi on Wednesday afternoon to chart its course of action for government formation under leadership of Modi. The crucial meeting comes within a day after declaration of Lok Sabha 2024 election’s results as the BJP immediately reached out to its allies for the government-formation preparations.

Indra Hang Subba, the Lok Sabha MP-elect from Sikkim, represented the SKM at the NDA meeting which was chaired by Modi. Senior leaders of the NDA alliance including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu were present at the much anticipated meeting along with other NDA members.

In his social media statement, Indra Hang shared that he represented the SKM at the NDA meeting as directed by SKM president and Chief Minister PS Golay and recorded the SKM’s support to the NDA. At the meeting, I extended the SKM’s support to NDA to form the government at the Centre under the dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi, he posted.

The SKM candidate had been elected as the lone Lok Sabha MP for the second straight term in the Parliamentary Election results announced on Tuesday.

Indra Hang shared that the Prime Minister personally passed his congratulations for the landslide electoral victory and best wishes for the upcoming term to Chief Minister PS Golay.

“During my address on behalf of Sikkimese people, I congratulated NDA alliance for securing a comfortable majority in the Lok Sabha 2024 election and formation of the new government under the pragmatic leadership of Narendra Modi. Further, I enlightened the house regarding the upcoming 50th year of Statehood of Sikkim in 2025 and I further appealed for further support to Sikkim in order to realise the mission of ‘Sunaulo and Samriddha Sikkim’ envisioned by our beloved leader Prem Singh Tamang (Golay),” said Indra Hang.

The NDA alliance members heartily thanked Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party and its leader Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) for the unconditional support towards formation of NDA government and assured to extend topmost priority to Sikkim from the upcoming Union government, added Indra Hang after the NDA meeting.
