GANGTOK,: Opposition SDF has released a party-published book recording its stand and commitments on the major political and social issues of Sikkim for the 2024 elections. Party president and former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling released the book during an important party meeting held on December 1, a SDF release informs.
The SDF publication lists the party’s promises on the 33 major issues of Sikkim.
At the outset, the SDF has committed to “revisit” the historical agreements and Acts of Sikkim while promising to protect the distinct Constitutional identity and rights of the Sikkimese.
The SDF has also promised to expand the Sikkim Legislative Assembly to 40 seats and from the newly added eight seats, five seats are to be reserved for the Limboo-Tamang communities. The remaining 20 seats would be reserved for the left-out 12 communities of Sikkim by delivering the ST status to them, the SDF promised.
The SDF has also promised a “one vote-one job” policy wherein every adult would be provided with a job opportunity as per his or her qualifications. The party also committed to women and youth empowerment, to make Sikkim self-reliant on every front, strengthening the panchayati raj system, and allocation of 70% of State Budget to rural areas.
