100th birth anniversary of Dodrupchen Rinpoche celebrated at Malling

MANGAN, (IPR): The 100th birth anniversary of His Eminence Kyabjé Dodrupchen Rinpoche was celebrated with great reverence and devotion at Malling Nyesong Kuendrol Mani Lhakhang, Malling, Mangan District, today. The event was organised by the Malling Nyesong Kundrol Manilakhang Committee and witnessed the participation of distinguished guests, devotees, monks, local residents, and well-wishers from different parts of the State.

The programme was graced by Prince Palden Gyurmed Namgyal as the chief guest. The programme had the esteemed presence and participation of chairman, Tourism & Civil Aviation department, Sonam Norgay Lachungpa, Zilla Upadakshya Mangan, Sonam Kipa Bhutia, SDM Mangan Sandeep Kumar, OSD Lachen Mangan Tshering Wangyal Bhutia, and other dignitaries.

The celebration commemorated the life, teachings, and spiritual legacy of His Eminence Kyabjé Dodrupchen Rinpoche and highlighted the historical and religious significance of Malling Manilakhang.

The programme commenced with a welcome speech by committee member Karma Bhutia, followed by the cake cutting ceremony accompanied by the recitation of Mani Aam Menlom and the Zecjhu Ceremony. Students of Mangan Senior Secondary School (SSS) and NSA presented the State Anthem in Bhutia, Lepcha, and Nepali languages.

A brief report on the auspicious occasion was presented by Khentrul Rinpoche in Bhutia language, which was subsequently translated into Nepali by Karma Bhutia.

The programme featured a felicitation ceremony, honouring individuals who have rendered their valuable contribution towards the Mani Lhakhang.

Prince Palden Gyurmed Namgyal, in his address, underscored the importance of preserving and promoting Sikkim’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage and paying tribute to the profound teachings of Kyabjé Dodrupchen Rinpoche. He lauded the people of Malling and Mangan for doing their best to preserve the cultural heritage and harmony of Sikkim.

The programme was also addressed by OSD Lachen Mangan Tshering Wangyal Bhutia, who threw light on the significance of the event, and expressed his joy on being a part of the occasion in the esteemed presence of distinguished dignitaries.

Likewise, SDM Mangan Sandeep Kumar expressed joy on being a part of the special occasion, which underscores the teachings of Buddhism. He added that such events make the younger generation aware of their heritage and culture.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Director, North Sikkim Academy, Phuntsok Namgyal Kazi, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, organisers, devotees, and all participants for making the centenary celebration a memorable and successful event. A community lunch followed thereafter.

The centenary celebration served as a fitting tribute to the remarkable spiritual legacy of His Eminence Kyabjé Dodrupchen Rinpoche, reinforcing the values of compassion, wisdom, and cultural preservation for future generations.
